Who is Yentl / Yntl?

Yentl Bakker (2000) is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher whose practice moves between photography, writing, filmmaking, archival research, and curatorial work. Originally working as a photographer with a specialization in medium-format portraiture and documentary projects, her practice has evolved in many directions— from organizing exhibitions, curating context activities for galleries, writing about art, or working in a residency.

"Multiplicity lies at the heart of my practice, rooted in the idea that creativity cannot be contained within a single form. The red thread through my work is social engagement: For instance, exploring themes of memory, identity, and the ways these transform across generations. Lately, I have become drawn to the archive, both as an object of study and as a living, shifting medium. Just as archives are never static, I want my work to exist in constant conversation with the present."
